Ice road truckers / Winter road transportation

Construction to remote mining/claim locations & fishing lodges

As most of us in the world know that we are one of the leading company providing valuable services to the Canadian northern communities through winter road transportation services.

Winter road is built over land on compacted snow, frozen tundra and bare ground, or on a floating ice cover and our trucks and our truck drivers are passionate about what they do and we offer our services to the world’s most rural areas.

Polar’s winter road transportation facilitates transportation during the winter to, from and within isolated areas in the North where there are no permanent (or ‘all-weather’) roads. They enable supplies (e.g. food, fuel, construction material) to be brought into communities in these areas.

Winter Road Transport

Polar Industries prides itself in being central Canada’s largest and most dependable winter road
transport company. Since our humble beginnings with one truck in 2007, we have grown to a fleet of nearly 40 units during the winter road season, hauling close to 700 loads across Manitoba and North Western Ontario’s winter roads system. Contractors as well as First Nation communities can rely on us to move their products ranging from groceries, building supplies to heavy equipment in a safe, cost-effective and timely manner.

In an effort to be socially conscious, we see the importance of giving back to the communities we serve. In 2015 we donated transportation to St. Theresa Point First Nation for a food drive that was organized by members of the community in Winnipeg. Polar Industries also supports the economic growth initiative within First Nation communities. We strive to maintain employee-diversity with our workforce. To this end we have approximately 30% First Nation employees. The combined effort of these workers help Polar Industries excel in delivering essentials to remote communities during the short window we have available to us during the winter months.

We offer the following services to all remote First Nation communities :

  • Dry van general freight
  • Heated van service
  • Low bed equipment moves
